Perfect Weekend---a bit late!!

Oh, how delightful it has been this weekend.

Having Erica here is such a blessing.  She is my earliest friend, woven into the fabric of my entire life, sometimes in the fore, sometimes subtly blended, but always a constant in all phases.  It makes for a comfortable visit, like back at Woodward when we'd be completely satisfied sitting in the dark listening to Enya :) or just doing our own things in shared solitude.  She's like another Mama to our kiddos, and I'm just loving observing the secret bonding moments like coloring with Jacob or loving on Ceci.

Yesterday in true Shabbat fashion, we rested and hung out and rested some more. Kevin's dissertation director, Gary Anderson, was in town for a conference, so he came for a breakfast of apple pancake.  Then we did dot-to-dot books, listened to music, and rested some more.  Oh, except for Kevin---he did yardwork for a few hours, always the busy bee he is.

Today we got an early start and caught the bus a bit after 8.  We went to English Mass at the Notre Dame Center, explored the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Then we sauntered around the Old City, looking at tapestries and pottery, jewelry and kitsch.

Lunch was an INCREDIBLE pita with schwarma, salad, tahini and french fries.  YUUUUUMMMMO!!

We shopped a bit more and then did the ramparts walk above the Old City:

How surreal is is, to walk along the stony walls, looking over a land so ancient and feeling so small--in a good way.  Here I was with my little tribe and we were adventurers.  Jacob exclaimed,
"This would never get boring!!"

After getting some fresh fruit from the market, we took the bus home and tumbled into our beds for a sunny afternoon nap.
